Mission

I believe that through integrating scientific ways of thinking, an appreciation for nature, and learning from people from all walks of life and cultures, we ourselves become stronger individuals and more able to contribute to the resilience of our communities.

I work to engage young people in learning and working alongside adult civic ecologists, who provide inspiration as they transform neglected and degraded sites into positive assets for local communities and the environment.

I provide leadership for a diverse group of students, educators, researchers, and scholars, who integrate practice and research focused on managing natural resources to foster social-ecological system resilience.
