Military Families Project
The 4-H Military Families Project uses community gardening as a means to connect youth, Veterans, and parents who are Soldiers deployed overseas. This project is starting in fall 2008 at Fort Drum, NY. Air and Army National Guard sites will be added in 2009. The Military Families Project is a collaboration between Jefferson County Cooperative Extension and Cornell University.
Once pilot projects are conducted in NYS, we plan to expand this project in collaboration with the national 4-H Military Partnership and Operation! Military Kids.
Funding for the Military Families Project is provided by Hatch and Smith-Lever funds through the Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station.
